Use Kickr Bike thumb buttons for in-ride functions

It would be great to be able to use the kickr bike thumb buttons for some in-ride functions. Specifically, I would like to be able to use one to take a screen shot, or to switch between erg and sim during a structured workout. Doing either of those things mid-ride whilst using a laptop is really quite tricky.
