Still unable to stream after these many years

My biggest continuing disappointment with FG is that I’ve never been able to stream rides no matter what my setup or options. My wifi may not be the fastest, but it sure seems good enough for everything else. I’ve even selected 720p as my default resolution with no luck. I had mostly resigned myself to having to plan my rides in advance and download them, but then when I started using Rouvy I found that it has no problem streaming rides in full resolution. I enjoy that since it lets me select a ride spontaneously, such as when I finish a planned ride and feel like doing a few more miles.

So why does Rouvy work — while also doing a lot of other overhead functions — and FG seems helpless at it?
